And my new favorite Celestial Seasonings tea goes to.....Chocolate Caramel Herbal Tea. Let's rewind and talk about the new "line" that Celestial Seasonings has released. In January, Celestial Seasonings released special tins at Target stores. Just recently I found them in my Target on an end cap. I was able to get all three, and although all three are delicious, the Chocolate Caramel is definitely my favorite. I will be doing reviews on the other two flavors (Strawberry Champagne Black Tea and Red Velvet Rooibos Tea) at a later time. I love the tins that these teas come in, and I know I will be re-purposing them! The tin for the Chocolate Caramel Tea has a brown lid and a dark yellow and light yellow designed bottom. It reminds me of chocolate and caramel. When I first found out about the teas, they were not available on Celestial Seasonings' website. Since they were a "special release" they were only available at Target stores. I looked on their website recently and now they are available online, so if you do not have a Target near you, you can buy them from Celestial Seasonings. Now back to the Chocolate Caramel Herbal Tea!
From Celestial Seasonings website, "A sultry swirl of salted caramel and chocolate flavors that’s sure to satisfy any sweet tooth." Oh my goodness, I believe this description could not be any more true. It is fantastic!
Ingredients
Roasted Carob, Roasted Chicory, Natural Chocolate and Caramel Flavors with other Natural Flavors, Milk Thistle, Cinnamon, and Sea Salt
My Take on the Tea
The initial sip of this tea is mostly chocolate. There is a subtle hint of caramel flavoring, but it does not overpower the chocolate. Without sweetener Celestial Seasonings Chocolate Caramel tea has a little bit of a nutty flavor; my guess is that the roasted chicory makes it taste that way. When it is sweetened with Stevia in the Raw, the flavor changes immensely. Instead of the nutty flavor come through, it is the chocolate flavor and cinnamon that is prominent. I love both of the flavors and I especially love that when sweetener is added it completely changes the taste.
As I was doing research on the ingredients of this particular tea, I was excited to learn that milk thistle can be used as an anti-inflammatory. Now, do I know if there is enough milk thistle in each serving to really make a difference? No, but the fact that it could possibly have a positive effect on the body is an added benefit.
The roasted carob is the main ingredient to give this tea its chocolate flavor. It is widely used as a caffeine free alternative to cocoa.
All in all, this is a fantastic tea to help curb chocolate cravings, especially at night!
